COMIC: COPRA Round One

Michael Fiffe makes underground comics. This one is a love letter to the DC comics series Suicide Squad from the 80's.

It's available from

BOOK: The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

COMICS: SHIELD by Jim Steranko

Jim Steranko did things, storytelling- and art-wise that had never been done before. And he did it in the middle of a kick-ass spy story!

BOOK: Permutation City by Greg Egan

COMICS: Fantastic Four / FF

Dark Reign: Fantastic Four was written by Jonathan Hickman. I have some of his other Fantastic Four works and they're great, so I want to check this out.

Matt Fraction took over on FF after Jonathan Hickman left, PLUS art by Mike Allred!

COMICS: Daredevil by Mark Waid Vol. 2

I recently picked up Vol. 1 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

COMIC: Delusional

COMIC: Mind MGMT

COMICS: JLA by Grant Morrison

I picked up the first "Deluxe Edition" by Grant

and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is Vol. 2 of the Deluxe Edition

COMIC: The Last Broadcast

BOOK: Under the Skin by Michel Faber

BOOK: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

COMIC: Hawkeye by Matt Fraction

I've heard this series is completely excellent.

And with Matt Fraction behind the wheel (so to speak) I believe it.

My Life as a Weapon is the first trade in the new series.

COMIC: Sacrifice

BOOKS: Deltora Quest series by Emily Rodda

I believe these are Australian in origin (?) and though they're aimed at young adults, I've heard nothing but good things.

COMIC: Sex Criminals

not to be confused with the comic series SEX by Casey & Kowalski,

SEX CRIMINALS is by Fraction & Zdarsky.

That's oddly similar now that I type it....

COMIC: The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born

Lord knows I LOVE the dark Tower book series and I've wanted to get into the comics.

Guess I should start with the first one, yeah?

BOOK: The Thief of Always by Clive Barker

I'm actually not sure if this is JUST a graphic novel or if it was a STORY that was TURNED INTO one or what,  but I've heard about it for quite some time.

COMIC: Young Avengers: Style > Substance

Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie are terrific together

BOOK: Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes

COMIC: Terror Inc.

BOOK: Roadside Picnic by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky

COMICS: Batman

Batman: Ego and Other Tails

This is a collection of single-issue stories that came out around the same era, but while I'm sure they're all great, I'm MOST interested in the Darwyn Cooke stories.

Batman Odyssey

This has been described as being of the same type of vibe as the so-bad-they're-good movies that I love, except... THIS HAS BATMAN.

I MUST own this.

Anything Paul Pope does is already somewhere I want to be, but again add BATMAN TO THAT and I'm there.
